Train services on Adelaide's Gawler line are not running after a woman was hit by a train.
Police and emergency crews are at the scene at Womma Road at Elizabeth where the woman was hit by a city-bound train at a level crossing just before 5:30am.
Senior Constable Mick Abbott said the incident happened not far from Womma Railway Station.
He said the woman was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a serious condition.
Train operator Adelaide Metro is organising substitute buses between Gawler and Salisbury.
Police Major Crash investigators will investigate the incident.
