The train will participate in "The Great Race" pacing parallel steam and diesel traction on Saturday morning (21st May 2016) thence conduct regular shuttles between Central and East Hills over the three day weekend.
Vintage electric train set F1 operated under its own power for the first time in over a decade today on a test run along the Carlingford Line. F1 includes one of the first carriages to cross the Sydney Harbour Bridge in 1932.
The return to heritage service of F1 is the result of a fantastic collaborative effort by the staff and volunteers at Sydney Trains, Historic Electric Traction and Transport Heritage NSW.
F1 will operate as part of the Transport Heritage Expo at Central Station this June long weekend. Tickets for the Expo go on sale tomorrow, Friday 20 May.
