A 28-year-old woman told police she was travelling on a train on March 24 when a man sat beside her, exposed himself and then committed an act of indecency.
The train had been travelling from Strathfield to Burwood station.
Police launched an investigation and transport officers allegedly identified the man on a train at Parramatta about 7.30pm yesterday.
He was allegedly exposing himself at the time.
They arrested the 52-year-old after a short struggle, and seized his mobile phone.
An examination of the phone allegedly uncovered about 1400 images of child abuse material, and a number of videos of the man’s indecent acts being performed on trains.
