Chengdu Metro Corp has awarded Shanghai Alstom Transport Electrical Equipment Co a €40m contract to supply traction equipment for 48 six-car trainsets for phases 2 and 3 of metro Line 3.
SATEE previously supplied Optonix traction equipment for the 24 trainsets that CRRC Changchun supplied for the first phase, which is due to open in August. The next phase is due to begin trial operations in 2018. When complete, the 50 km Line 3 will serve 37 stations.
The traction equipment is being assembled at SATEE’s Chinese plant supported by Alstom’s sites at Tarbes in France (components) and Charleroi in Belgium (software).
