THE LNP's local MPs want the rail duplication to Nambour. Do they really think residents of the Sunshine Coast coastal strip are going to drive to Nambour, Woombye and other rural stations to get a train to Brisbane?
We should ask the residents of the highly populated coastal strip if they would drive to Nambour etc to get the train or if they would prefer a QR train on the coastal strip.
It is quite obvious the MPs have not thought the rail duplication project through.
Where will motorists park at these stations such as Nambour?
Between Landsborough and Nambour the local roads are not built to heavy vehicle standards, so how will heavy vehicles access the rail line to do the major construction work?
The MPs should meet with Translink management and come up with a better rail timetable for the Sunshine Coast. Our current timetable is a total disgrace.
All stations Nambour to Petrie on nearly every train and then more station stops before Bowen Hills is totally unacceptable, especially when you have to endure trains with seating designed for short metropolitan trips and most built more than 30 years ago.
We even had the CEO of QR stating on ABC Radio that the service was poor on a Sunday because of poor patronage.
Can someone tell this CEO that if you make the services attractive to people they will travel on the train.
Give people a poor service and they will not travel - that simple.
Why is it that the public can see that the railway should go to where the people are and that the population base is on the coastal strip?
It seems everyone except the politicians can see we need the Beerwah to Maroochydore rail line and we need it now.
The next state election should be really interesting if what I am hearing happens.
Local LNP MPs should listen to their voters and forget waving placards at Landsborough.
QR is one of the worst rail systems in the developed world.
