The changes will affect one morning train from Gosford to Sydney and three Central to Newcastle bound trains in the afternoon between.
Matthew Gregory of Hardy’s Bay has been commuting to work in Sydney for 33 years and says the additional Burwood stop will add about four minutes to his daily travel time if he catches affected trains in both the morning and afternoon.
Transport NSW insists the stopping time is only a minute.

“Four minutes a day might not seem like much - but it adds up over time,” he said.
Mr Gregory penned a terse letter to Transport NSW asking why Burwood had been added.
“Burwood is not a major transport interchange so there is no logic for these trains to stop there unless it is to provide uplift to/from Burwood to the City” he said.
“Central Coast commuters have been assured on many occasions by the minister that our services are express services and are there to link the Central Coast with the major transport hubs and yet, here is another useless stop added to our services just to satisfy metropolitan demand without any thought given to the journey times for Central Coast commuters.
“Isn’t it about time Central Coast and Newcastle trains were actually run for people from the Central Coast and Newcastle?”

A new stop at Burwood Station will take one minute.LESS THAN A MINUTE EXTRAA transport for NSW spokesperson said the proposed timetable had a small number of Central Coast and Newcastle Line services stopping at Burwood from November 26.
“Transport for NSW has ensured the impact to Central Coast customers is minimised,” the sokesperson said.
“The Burwood stop will take no longer than one minute and on some services, journey times will be the same as they are today,” they said.
“Transport for NSW is committed to providing the best possible services for customers and we will continue to monitor the network to see how we can make further improvements.”
