Newag submitted the only bid for a contract to extensively modernise nine Fablok SM42 diesel shunting locomotives operated by PKP Intercity.
The contract covers a complete rebuild, retaining only the frames and bogies. The current single diesel engine would be replaced by two engines, with the replacement cab located in the centre of the locomotive.
The contract is worth 60m złoty, and there are options for the rebuilding of a further four locomotives.
