Yesterday I headed up to Rouses Point for some railfanning, researching, and just to see railroad stuff. We were planning to catch the southbound Adirondack in Chazy, but they left Rouses Point on time(what?) so Spellman’s in Beekmantown would have to do. It was a close catch, only about a minute of wait time.
We then headed to Rouses Point, taking some pictures of the old roundhouse and servicing facilities. These won’t be around for much longer, so get ’em while ya can!
The Rouses Point station, built in 1889, reminds me of Plattsburgh sort of.
Only .1 mile from the border.
The station has a nice museum inside, with lots of local RR information.
On the way out of town I saw a CP container stacker, used for taking off suspicious containers crossing the border.
Today I visited the Lyon Mt. depot, so look for a post soon. -Harrison
