The Waterfall rail disaster commissioner, Peter McInerney, having conducted two rail disaster inquiries and heard a litany of mismanagement, is determined to leave behind him a series of rapid and lasting changes.
Mr McInerney, who completed hearing evidence yesterday, is likely to recommend installing a team of safety experts within RailCorp to quickly implement high safety standards.
Despite fears expressed last week by RailCorp's chief executive, Vince Graham, that it would create problems of governance, Mr McInerney is likely to make the recommendation.
