The Perth to Mandurah railway is a step closer to completion with the first train being run through the New Metro Rail tunnel at the weekend.
The trial runs were aimed at testing the overhead lines which power the trains, as well as checking clearances for platforms.
The track will be inspected this week to ensure the rail infrastructure has remained in place.
The fit out of the two new city stations is yet to be completed.
