An indefinite freeze on rail fares has been ordered by NSW Premier Bob Carr because of CityRail's poor performance.
The Sunday Telegraph newspaper reported that Mr Carr had written to the independent body that sets public transport fares asking it to review the costs of bus and ferry travel for the 2004-05 financial year but to leave rail fares untouched.
