Five Wimmera-Mallee rail lines will get upgrades under a new $43 million funding plan.
The lines affected are between Korong Vale and Quambatook, Korong Vale and Charlton, Murtoa and Warracknabeal, Swan Hill and Piangil and Mildura and Yelta.
The Victorian Farmers Federation's Russell Amery says it is disappointing that the package does not contain more funding.
"I think they've been doing their homework ... and taking necessary steps to go forward," he said.
"It would be nice to think that they had more money to spend, but it's a slow process. They've made a start, they've made a commitment, let's hope they continue."
