Today, the Victorian Government has announced that it will move to a more comprehensive shutdown of non-essential services over the next 48 hours in an attempt to slow the spread of coronavirus.
From Tuesday 24 March 2020, Victoria will bring forward school holidays to begin on Tuesday. We know that this will impact some of our employees.
Supermarkets, banks, petrol stations, pharmacies, convenience stores, freight and logistics and home delivery will be among the many services that will remain open.
At this stage, public transport is an "essential service" and as such we will continue to operate our normal timetable. It is critically important that we are able to deliver a safe and reliable network to get essential service workers to where they need to go, but also to get Melburnians to other essential services such as medical providers, supermarkets and pharmacies.
We understand that this is a challenging time for everyone, please continue to look out for one another and stay informed.
Julien Dehornoy CEO, Yarra Trams
