The test run on Tuesday of the new tram from central Athens to the southern seaside suburbs including two major Olympic complexes was a success.
Transport Minister Michalis Liapis said, “the general test of the tram was successful. Despite all the delays and problems that existed because of its course through densely populated urban areas, we finally did it”.
Starting July 10 the tram will connect the city centre with the sports facility at the old Hellenikon airport where softball, baseball, basketball, basketball and white water rafting will take place.
