Gheringhap Sightings w/e 13/6/2015
Victoria, 3-10 to 8-10-2004
We had a total of 134 sightings at Gheringhap this week, which is not bad seeing that the week included a long week end for the queens birthday holiday. The total sightings for the year to date is now 2998.
47 of this weeks trains were on the B/G with eight of them being the diverted 9140/9141 Mildura trains. We had two EMU transfer trains on the up, Tuesday's transfer had T369(WC) with two new EMU set, 933M+1667T+934M+923M+1662T+924M. And another transfer on Friday saw T363(WC) with one new EMU set, 935M+1668T+936M. And we had three light loco movements on the down, all included West Coast T class locos. The biggest lash up for the week on the B/G was Wednesdays 9125 down empty grain, which had G5XX+G5XX+A7X+Xxx+PXX+HX+HX. Rebuilt XR554 was seen on six trains for the week. Wednesdays up 9140 included two new CFCLA hoppers.
On the S/G we saw 32 sightings of DL loco's with ten of them being on the Patrick's trains. We had eight sightings of AN locos and seven sightings of EL locos. This week we saw 12 grain trains on the S/G, some to Geelong and some to Melbourne. We had one light loco movement on Tuesday when a G+X went past on the down. Lash ups of more than three locos are not so regular on the S/G but on Thursday AM5 came in with NR103(PN)+DLXX(AN)+NR47?+NRXX.
Friday night's down Patrick's train MA3 must have had some problem with the lead loco as it arrived at Gheringhap at about midnight with NR32+DL47(NR)+NR42 and spent over two hours shunting locos and crossing trains before it departed at 0214 with the lead loco running long end leading, NR42+NR32+DL47(NR).
Regards, Graham Elliott.
