Yesterday PNL freight 1PS6 derailed at Crystal Brook after hitting 5 cows.
At about 08:00hrs yesterday, 1PS6 hauled by NR98 and NR112 hit 5 cows at the level crossing around 100m on the Crystal Brook side of the highway overpass. The impact derailed the leading axle of NR98 and damaged 500m of track before the train came to a halt. NR98 was re-railed at 11:05hrs.Once detached from the train it proceeded to the goods siding at Crystal Brook, arriving there at 12:10hrs. 1PM5 then worked past the train on the Up main passing through Crystal Brook at 13:04. NR43 eventually arrived light engine from Pt.Augusta at 13:55 and was placed as the lead engine on 1PS6. The train eventually departed at 14:10hrs. Single line working was still in place on 23/6 between Crystal Brook and Coonamia with the down main cloesed.
