The return of passenger railservices to Ararat has moved one step closer with Minister for Transport Peter Batchelor announcing V/Line drivers will start training on the new Ararat railway line next week.
Department staff have previously stated the training should take about four weeks, meaning the service could return to Ararat as early as next month. Mr Batchelor said the track works were virtually complete and an announcement about the return date should be made soon.
