Inland rail a trifecta for Toowoomba region: mayor
The Victorian Minister for Transport, Peter Batchelor, is due to make an announcement today about the return of passenger rail to the Ballarat to Ararat line.
It is expected trains will return on Saturday, July 10.
The Labor Member for Ripon, Joe Helper, says the move speaks powerfully for the determination of the community, after the Kennett government closed down the service 10 years ago.
He says the train will be welcomed back by community celebrations in Beaufort and Ararat.
The timetable for the new service has not yet been released.
