There were 108 sightings for this week. This is 21 sighting more than last week, making a total of 3861 sightings for this year to date. On day 318 last year we had recorded 4509 sightings.
We have seen eleven sightings on the B/G this week, which are six more that last week.
Mondays down Mildura train 9103 had G525(FA)+P20(FA). Wednesdays down 9107 had G527(PN)+P22(FA) and stopped at Gheringhap to attach ten cement wagons. And 9108 on the up on Friday also had G527(PN)+P22(FA) and was through Gheringhap over two hours late.. The cement pots were brought up from Geelong on Monday by A85(FA)+H1(PN), after which it returned on the up as a light loco.
We have seen six PN grain trains on the B/G, on Tues, Thurs and Friday we saw loaded trains on the up and empty trains on the down each day. Four of the trains included BL32(NR) and there was six sightings of XR554 & XR557.
On the S/G we have seen 12 sightings of AN class locos, with six of them being seen on the Patricks trains along with ten XRB slave unit sightings Four of this weeks six Patrick’s trains included a NR+XRB+XRB+AN lash up. And we saw one sighting of 8122. We have seen 11 sleeper trains this week which included 13 X 81 class sightings. The mineral sands train made one of its rare appearances this week, starting with a down light loco movement on Thursday with El Zorro locos S302+T342. S302 went to western Victoria to swap with C501 on the ballast trains. On Friday T342+C501 collected the mineral sand flat wagons from where they were stored at Westmere before taking them to Melbourne to collect the empty containers. On Saturday morning the empty mineral sand train arrived at Gheringhap with C501+T342 where it detached T342 and placed it into the refuge siding. C501 continued with the train, on the down to Maroona. T342 departed on the up light loco after track machines came into loop and it crossed the down Overland. And about four hours later the T was again seen light loco on the down, heading west to join C501 at Maroona. Five of this weeks six Overland trains were headed by NR22, the other train had NR86.
We saw two plant trains early in the week. Late on Sunday night we saw 442s2(COOTE) on the down with two long track machines and three empty flat wagons. And the next day on the up we saw 442s2*(COOTE) return with one track machine and the three flat wagons.
On this weeks eight SCT trains we saw 21 sightings of the SCT class locos. This week we saw eight P & O trains which included 16 VL class sightings and five G class sightings. And on this weeks four QRN trains we saw five sightings of QRN 6000 class locos including the first sighting of 6002 on Friday night. And we also saw three LDP sightings, two QRN G class, and one sighting each of a CLF & CLP class.
A late running MP5 was seen on Monday morning with NR89*+NR98*+NR94+NR21(PN). This was followed by 8177+8153+8173 on the sleeper train. Fridays up AM5 came in with NR34(PN)+NR20+AN4(AN)+NR15. Fridays down MA6 QRN train went out with 6002(Q)+6001(Q)+LDP003. Saturdays up AM2 P & O train came in with G512*(S)+G515(CF)+VL355*+VL356*.
