THE five councils of Blayney, Cowra, Harden, Young and Weddin have been advised that the Ministerial Taskforce to examine the reopening of the rail line will hold its first meeting at Cowra on Thursday 8 July 2010.
The Mayor of Cowra Shire Council, Cr Bill West, and the Mayor of Weddin Shire, Cr Maurice Simpson, have been nominated as the representatives of the councils on the Taskforce which will also contain representatives of Transport NSW and the NSW Department of Industry and Investment.
The Taskforce will be chaired by Ms Joanna Quilty who is a Deputy Director General of Transport NSW. The councils have welcomed Ms Quilty’s appointment as reflecting the importance of the matter at government level.
Mayor West and Mayor Simpson said they are looking forward to the deliberations of the committee and are keen to get involved in the future revival of the rail line, to the benefit of all the affected communities.
