Closure of Newcastle rail stations not technically a closure of whole line, State Government lawyer says
Rail commuters on the Illawarra line face delays this morning after the Airport line was closed between Wolli Creek and Central due to emergency equipment repairs.
Airport and East Hills Line trains are being diverted via Sydenham and a replacement bus service is in place between Sydenham and Central via Airport line stations, stopping at Sydenham, International Airport, Domestic Airport, Mascot, Green Square, Central and return. Buses do not stop at Wolli Creek.
At this stage there is no forecast of when the line can be reopened.
Customers are advised to allow extra time if travelling to the airport this morningRailCorp contractor Transfield services are on site and working to restore train services as soon as possible.
