Reports are coming into the Railpage News Desk which suggest a Vline passenger train travelling to Melbourne on Monday morning narrowly avoided a collision with a maintenance vehicle engaged in track maintenance.
The claim suggests the "West Line" north of Seymour was undergoing maintenance when a Vline passenger service haded for Melbourne was incorrectly routed onto the track undergoing maintenance.
The driver of the Vline service was required to apply the emergency braking system halting the train just metres from a vehicle occupying the same track.
Railpage now understands the incident has been reported to the relevant authorities with a full investigation underway.
