A woman has been charged over a bomb hoax that caused the evacuation of Parliament railway station and delayed services on all rail lines in Melbourne last night.
The 36-year-old Collingwood woman was arrested after police received a call alleging a bomb had been planted at the busy city station just after 7pm.
The station was evacuated and Metro stopped trains running through the City Loop. The train operator warned passengers to expect major delays of 30 minutes on all train lines at the time.
Police said the caller then phoned back to say the threat was a hoax, and City Loop services resumed about 7.30pm.
The woman was arrested last night and charged with carrying out a bomb hoax, assaulting police and possessing a controlled weapon.
She has been bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court later this year.
