On 18.06.2019 the DART Board of Directors approved a resolution to name future service running on the Cotton Belt Commuter Rail as the Silver Line. The new name comes with a new design – presented on a FLIRT DMU:
Stadler Rail will deliver eight FLIRT DMUs to Dallas. The Silver Line is expected to open in 2022 with 30-minute peak and 60-minute off-peak services. The 26-mile line will connect DFW Airport and Shiloh Road in Plano – traversing seven cities: Grapevine, Coppell, Dallas, Carrollton, Addison, Richardson, and Plano.
