More than $22 million in regional public transport upgrades have been released for tender by the Victorian Government.
A selection of tenders has been released to tenderlink.com/victrack to deliver new car parks, more comfortable waiting areas, and better passenger information at train stations across rural and regional Victoria.
Public transport minister Jacinta Allan said the $22.5 million package was funded by the Andrews Government’s Road and Rail Minor Works Program.
“This program will deliver the day-to-day upgrades that make a real difference,” Allan said.
“More parking at the local station, a secure place to lock your bike and better bus shelters so you are not waiting in the rain.”
A detailed list of the works is available here.
Victrack says it expects to have all the projects done by December 2018.
“They’re local projects that have come out of the extensive consultation with local communities through the Regional Network Development Plan,” Allan continued.
“These works will take place in five regions across twenty-five cities and towns in Victoria.
“I encourage local builders and contractors to apply through the tender process, and help us build a better public transport system.”
The Government expects to award contracts by the end of April, so work can begin in the second half of the year.
