Now reported 11 wagons have derailed with some wagons on fire.
A Pacific National Freight train travelling from Melbourne to Griffth has derailed near Barnawartha in North East Victoria just south of Wodonga. The derailment spilled containers across tracks blocking both rail lines.
Subsequent to the derailment a Melbourne bound V/Line train (number 8630) has thence collided with containers strewn across the tracks. No passengers on the V/Line passenger train were injured.
There are no reported injuries to the crew of the freight train however a number of freight wagons are on fire. The Country Fire Authority has been called and are on the scene.
Emergency crews are now onsite.
