French rolling stock manufacturer Alstom has received an order to supply 18 Coradia Lint regional trains to Germany.
The company was granted the nearly €80m contract by Landesanstalt Schienenfahrzeuge Baden-Württemberg (SFBW).
The Coradia Lint trains will be manufactured at Alstom’s Salzgitter facility in Lower Saxony, Germany. They are expected to be delivered in the second half of 2020.
Alstom Germany and Austria managing director Jörg Nikutta said: “Following the delivery of these trains there will be a total of 33 of our proven and reliable Coradia Lint vehicles in operation in Baden-Württemberg.
“With this order we will once again prove our delivery reliability, accommodating an extremely tight timeframe. As with the delivery for the ‘Ulmer Stern’ network, we will manufacture and deliver the trains in less than a year and a half.”
Once delivered, the trains are expected to operate on the Zollernalbbahn network in southern Germany.
The Coradia Lint is a diesel multiple-unit train equipped with WLAN, an entertainment and passenger information system and video surveillance tool. The vehicle is capable of operating at a maximum speed of 140km/h.
Each of these trains will feature 150 seats and 18 bicycle parking spaces. Additionally, every seat is equipped with a laptop table.
In March, Alstom received a €150m contract from Transdev to deliver 41 Coradia Lint regional trains.
These 41 trains will be operated by Bayerische Regiobahn, a subsidiary of Transdev, on the lines from Augsburg to Weilheim, Schongau, Ingolstadt, Eichstätt and Langenneufnach in Germany.
The Coradia Lint trains operate in more than 30 networks across Europe and Canada.
