This week we took a trip to Maine, and the railfanning that occurred will be documented in a multi part series.

We were heading towards the bridge in Rouses Point, NY, when I decided it would be worth a quick jog down to the station to see if any trains were coming. The action on the Canadian division has been pretty slow during the day ever since the Adirondack was shut down along with the border. As we approached the station a double red signal was on for a southbound train. After questioning a CP employee I learned that a southbound train would be coming as soon as US customs was ready to inspect it.
So Close to Canada at MP 191. Please let us come railfan…
Once US customs got the inspection equipment going, CP 650, the southbound oil train, rolled through.
As the train rounded the curve, the screeching became almost unbearable. My poor camera’s ears!
The train took a whopping 12 minutes to clear the station, and the crossing… hopefully no one was in a hurry.
Finally the buffer car came into view, followed by the DPU.
As the train rolled towards the siding, we hit the road heading for Maine. we passed some MOW workers on the bridge in Alburg VT.
Look for part 2, when we (finally) do some railfanning in Maine. –Harrison
