Journey Beyond is working closely with authorities and guests in response to lockdowns and changing border and travel restrictions. We are committed to providing safe journeys for guests and crew and will continue to follow instructions and advice from relevant state authorities.

The Indian Pacific
Due to current border and travel restrictions outlined by the South Australian and Western Australian authorities, Indian Pacific journeys will be suspended up to Wednesday 11 August 2021. All departures from this date onwards will be reviewed in chronological order and any further changes will be advised to affected guests. At this stage, the Indian Pacific is scheduled to resume on Thursday 12 August from Adelaide, pending border restrictions.
For guests who are unable to travel, you will receive a Future Travel Credit, to be used by 31 December 2022. If you are booked on one of the suspended journeys, you will receive an email with your Future Travel Credit and instructions on how to re-book. If you booked via a travel agent, this email will be sent to them.
Journey Beyond will continue to follow advice from relevant authorities and to utilise our JourneySafe operational plan to further protect the health and safety of guests and crew.
The Ghan and The Ghan Expedition
Due to the current advice from South Australian authorities, and the commencement of a state-wide 7-day lockdown, the Ghan and Ghan Expedition journeys listed below have now been suspended.
At this stage, the service is scheduled to resume from Adelaide on Wednesday 28 July 2021, pending border restrictions. All departures from this date onwards will be reviewed in chronological order and any further changes will be advised to affected guests.
For guests who are unable to travel, you will receive a Future Travel Credit, to be used by 31 December 2022. If you are booked on one of the suspended journeys, you will receive an email with your Future Travel Credit and instructions on how to re-book. The Overland
Due to current border restrictions and lockdowns taking place in both Victoria and South Australia, The Overland train service between Adelaide and Melbourne will be suspended up to Friday 30 July 2021. At this stage, The Overland is scheduled to resume on Sunday 1 August 2021, pending changes to border restrictions. All departures from this date onwards will be reviewed in chronological order and any further changes will be advised to affected guests.
