Drivers in the growing south east will get a faster, less congested commute with major upgrades to Golf Links Road in Langwarrin South.
The works will be part of the Andrews Labor Government’s Suburban Roads Upgrade – the biggest investment in suburban roads in Victoria’s history – to fix 22 key suburban arterials and create more than 4,200 jobs.
The upgrade will improve the road conditions along Golf Links Road and Grant Road from Peninsula Link to Frankston-Flinders Road, providing a better journey for more than 8,000 drivers who rely on Golf Links Road each day.
Key intersections will be upgraded, including the roundabout at the intersection of Warrandyte Road and Baxter-Tooradin Road, which will be realigned and traffic lights will be installed.
The upgrade also includes a range of safety improvements, including new sealed road shoulders and guard rails along the length of the project.
Golf Links Road is a key route for heavy vehicles accessing Peninsula Link, Somerville, Hastings and the Western Port Highway.
The Victorian Budget 2018/19 will include $2.2 billion to upgrade 13 key arterial routes across the northern and south-eastern suburbs, on top of the $1.8 billion Western Roads Upgrade announced in last year’s budget.
The Suburban Roads Upgrade will fix more than 50 kilometres of roads across Melbourne.
As part of the Suburban Roads Upgrade package, several other key routes through Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs will be upgraded, including Healesville-Koo Wee Rup Road, Pound Road West and Thompsons Road.
