Closure of Newcastle rail stations not technically a closure of whole line, State Government lawyer says
MECHANICAL repairs on a freight train at Wyee partially closed the line to Sydney between Wyong and Morisset until Thursday afternoon.
Only northbound services were affected initially, but the outage spread to both directions shortly after 8am.
The Transport Management Centre reported services were running again shortly after 1pm but passengers were still advised to allow extra travel time.
