Commuter chaos is widespread across the Sydney rail network this morning after a train broke down at Town Hall Station.
"No trains are running on the T1 North Shore Line from Town Hall to North Sydney - in that direction only - due to a train requiring mechanical repairs at Town Hall," Transport Management Centre said in a statement.Passengers are advised to catch a local bus service to North Sydney to continue their journey.
Commuters catching trains on the T1 Western Line are also advised to allow extra time as "stopping patterns may change at short notice".
Transport advised the issue has to do with a "loose hatch on top of a train" which is close to overhead wiring.
Emergency technicians are on site resolving the mechanical issue.
