Victoria, 3-10 to 8-10-2004
Yesterday we headed out to catch 931. After arriving at South Junction, I still hadn’t heard them call an approach on the Control Point, so we headed up to Cliff Haven. It’s a good thing we did, because D11 was rolling up the siding as 931 approached. Meet alert!
Unfortunately D11 was rolling slowly, so 931 got to me first.
D11 passed behind some empty centerbeam flats on 931, making for an interesting video.
We headed up to the bike path to chase D11 along on its way up to the mill. Although I didn’t get any photos on the bike path, I grabbed a couple at the station, the northern end of our chase.
Today, I looked out the window and into a snowstorm. Minutes after getting out of bed, I heard 252 getting cleared out of Rouses. I had also heard that 931 was getting close, but it turned out to be a mistake. We headed out to South Junction road for 252.
While they were switching, I found out that 931 was actually about an hour away, and 252 would be heading south before 931. After switching for quite some time, 252 headed south. My camera lens got quite wet, it’s a good thing I had a protector on it!
Although 931 had an SD70ACU trailing (which make me drool so badly) we had to go home. Overall, some nice catches in a couple days. -Harrison
