The work of the metro rail project in Bhopal is now taking new shapes. Dilip Buildcon Limited (DBL) on 25th September 2020 launched the first 8.5-meter wide pre-cast segment at the proposed Kendriya Vidyalay metro station for building the elevated viaduct of the Bhopal Metro Rail project.
"The 60MT pre-cast segment was placed between Piers 144-145 near Kendriya Vidyalaya Station on Hoshangabad Road and the launching activities using a double-nosed crane will continue northward towards Subhash Nagar," said a DBL worker.
The casting works by DBL was resumed in June after unlocking COVID-19 restrictions on construction activities across the country. The construction work was suspended works for over two months.
In October 2018, Dilip Buildcon Limited was awarded a contract worth Rs 247.06 crore for the design and construction of the Elevated Viaduct (length 6.225 km) between AIIMS and Subhash Nagar (Excluding stations) including entry and exit to Depot for the Bhopal Metro Rail Project, Phase-I.
The construction work started last year after the formal foundation stone laying ceremony was organized by Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL) in presence of former Chief Minister Kamal Nath on 26th September 2019.
DBL has started assembling of L-Girder near Bhopal Haat in mid of September. The 6.225 km Subhash Nagar – AIIMS section is the first section of 14.99 km Corridor 2 of the Bhopal Metro Rail project. This project is being funded by the European Investment Bank (EIB) for which a formal agreement was signed on 20th December 2019.
EIB to provide a 400 million euros (Rs 3,430 crore) loan to the Government of Madhya Pradesh for implementing the first phase of the project.
A consortium of DB Engineering & Consulting GmbH, Geodata Engineering S.p.A. and Louis Berger Group is providing the General Consultant services for the 27.87 km Bhopal Metro Rail project.
