The trains will operate at Grade of Automation 4 (GoA4) on the new 38.5km Line 14, which will run from Fengbang in the west of the city to Jinqiao in the Pudong District in the east of Shanghai.

Line 14 will have 31 stations, 12 of which will be interchanges with other lines on the Shanghai metro. Construction started in 2016 and Line 14 is due to open by the end of 2020.
