The first Sino-Europe freight train pulled away with 42 cars from Changchun International Port, Changchun New Area on Oct 13, symbolizing the port's opening.
The train will complete the exit and entry process at Manzhouli land port and go on to Russia, Belarus, Poland, and Belgium, finally terminating at Hamburg, Germany.
The highest speed the train can reach is 120 kilometers per hour and it will take 12 to 15 days to travel the entire distance.
At the departure ceremony, Liu Changlong, mayor of Changchun, said the opening of the port will allow Changchun to enter the global economy.
The port will take Chinese intelligent manufacturing to the world while attracting more advanced industries, technology and investment to Changchun to accelerate the transformation and upgrading of its traditional industrial enterprises.

Liu also suggested that the Changchun government will work together with the Shenyang Railway Bureau and China Railway Container Transport to build Changchun International Port into a modern cargo distribution center.
Zhang Haitao, director of the Shenyang Railway Bureau, said the port will be a platform to increase cooperation and exchange between Jilin province and European countries.
He also expressed his appreciation of Shenyang Railway's efforts to secure the future of this economic corridor between Changchun and Europe.
Being a national zone, Changchun New Area shoulders responsibility to follow China's policies and lead regional development. The port will ensure the area becomes and remains a significant hub connecting Asia and Europe.
