Victoria, 3-10 to 8-10-2004
There were 81 sightings for this week. This is seven sighting less than last week, making a total of 3743 sightings for this year to date. On day 311 last year we had recorded 4424 sightings.
We have seen five sightings on the B/G this week, which are four less that last week.
Mondays down Mildura train 9103 did not turn up. Wednesdays down 9107 had G527(PN)+P20(FA) and stopped at Gheringhap to attach 11 cement wagons. And 9108 on the up on Friday also had G527(PN)+P20(FA). The cement pots were brought up from Geelong on Monday by A85(FA), after which it returned on the up as a light loco.
On Monday night we saw special pass 8189 from Mildura on the up with R761+S301(FA)+T395(VR)+S313(SRV).
On the S/G we have seen 19 AN class loco sightings of which five of them were seen on the Patrick’s trains along with nine XRB slave unit sightings. It looks like Patricks are now only using one train for the services in both directions. Out of the five trains last week four of them had an NR+XRB+XRB+AN lash up. If anyone can add any extra information on these new Patricks train times please share the information with us.
We have seen six sleeper trains this week with eight 81 class sightings and two XR sightings. Wednesday nights up empty sleeper train was seen with XR55X+XR55X+8121?
On the eight SCT trains we have seen 20 sightings of the SCT class locos and one sighting of an SCT G class loco. On the four QRN trains we saw five LDP sightings, three sightings of 6001, two CLF sightings, and one sighting each of a QRN CLP & G class. And the four P & O trains for this week were all worked with a VL+G combo. G515 newly painted in CFCLA livery was on two trains and SCT painted G512 was on the other two trains, along with VL’s 355 & 356.
It was reported that ARTC had major communication and signalling problems which covered a very large area from Friday, and lasted for a few days. It made a lot of trains run very slow and very late. At one stage on Friday we didn’t see a train at Gheringhap for over thirteen and a half hours.
Sundays MP5 went out with NR45(PN)+NR76*+NR12*+NR32*(PN). Mondays up PM9 SCT train came in with SCT011+SCT004+SCT013 and SCT011 was long end leading. Tuesdays up Patricks train had NR16(PNP)+XRB560+XRB561+AN9(AN). And the down train on Wednesday had the same locos, also did Thursdays up Patrick’s train. On Thursday NR34 was seen for the first time in its new PN livery. Fridays down Patricks train went out with NR44+XRB560+XRB561+AN9(AN). And on Saturday morning we saw PM6 come in with NR56(PN)+NR116+AN6(AN)+NR112(PN).
Regards, Graham Elliott.
