Around 15 wagons of a fully loaded goods train derailed betwen Vangaon and Dahanu Road stations on the Western Railway route at 3 a.m. on Monday.
As a result, all long distance trains, including Rajdhani Express, Duronto, Jaipur Superfast, Saurashtra Janta, Lokshakti Express and other premium trains towards Mumbai were late by several hours.
Commuter trains like Flying Ranee, Valsad Fast passenger and other trains were cancelled. All express and mail trains were delayed by a few hours as restoration work is going on full swing. However, Virar-Boisar-Borivali locals are running shuttle services to clear the early morning commuter rush.
The first local towards Borivali left at around 6.30 a.m. hours from Palghar railway station. By noon, all train services would be back to normal, said railway sources.
The Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) and other top officials are reaching the spot.
