HO scale – ICG Decals offers a set of waterslide decals for lettering an HO-scale Illinois Central high cube boxcar model. The set sells for $7.00 and presents materials to letter one high cube boxcar. The set was design for use with Tangent Scale Models’ Greenville high cube boxcar replica.

Illinois Central rostered five examples of Greenville Steel Company’s 86-foot four-door high cube boxcar. The big auto parts carriers arrived in late 1969 and presented the then-new orange corporate image with “I-ball” herald. The cars operated initially in a General Motors pool serving Pontiac manufacturing, according to ICG Decals research.

The decal set includes stencils noting this pool routing assignment to return the car to Michigan for its next load. You can add a multi-color ACI label (which was located in the vertical panel to the right of the I-ball herald on the prototype, see ICG Decals website for prototype picture) by purchasing ICG Decals’ set SE-14.
