The safety at the Grenville Street in Hampton pedestrian rail crossing needs to be urgently upgraded with the installation of gates.
Whilst this work has been previously promised by the Victorian Government, it has not been delivered. There have been a number of tragic deaths at this crossing over the last few decades, the most recent of which occurred last month when an 83 year old grandmother was killed by a train whilst walking her dog.
The Minister for Transport Infrastructure, the Hon. Jacinta Allan needs to immediately act and direct Public Transport Victoria to quickly undertake the previously committed safety improvements.
