Rare Arnott's biscuit van restored
For the first time in a good while, a train arrived at Kandos station and passengers stepped onto the platform at the small town, last Saturday afternoon.
It was the final overnight stop of the inaugural, five-day Golden West Rail Tour, run by Vintage Rail Journeys.
The trip also travelled through the Hunter Valley, Werris Creek, Orange, Bathurst, the Blue Mountains, and Sydney. With the aim to include rail lines normally closed to the public.
Dinner at the Kandos Community Hall had to be served in shifts - for COVID Safety compliance - so visitors were also able to check out North East Wiradjuri Centre, Guluu and Way Out galleries and Kandos Museum.
Accommodation was on board the cabins of the Southern Aurora Sleeping Train.
