Portugal: The city of Lisbon has awarded the third contract worth €19.5m for its Yellow and Green lines extension project, to a joint venture of Teixeira Duarte and Somafel. The contract covers the construction of two new viaducts in the Campo Grande area, and work must be completed within 698 days.
Czech Republic: The Czech government has approved plans to modernise 16km of line between the Berounka branch line and Karlstejn station, including the modernisation of stations on the route. Construction work is expected to begin in 2023, to be completed in 2026.
New Zealand: KiwiRail has awarded an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) contract for work on Auckland’s Papakura – Pukekohe Electrification Project (P2P) to the eTRACS joint venture of John Holland, Australia, and McConnell Dowell, New Zealand.
Egypt: The city of Cairo has awarded Hill International, United States, a contract for project management, design review and implementation supervision of the $US 4bn 98.5 km-long New Administrative Capital and 6th of October City Monorail project.
Czech Republic: The Czech Railway Administration (SZ) has announced a tender to conduct a feasibility study for upgrades to the Mladá Boleslav – Turnov – Liberec line to enable the operation of hourly express trains to run between Prague and Liberec.
