Italferr will prepare a technical and economic feasibility study for the line, which will include a new intermediate station. The study will also consider a future extension to Cristoforo Columbo Airport, which will include two additional stations. A depot and control room will also be included in the project.
The monorail system, which has been designed by the University of Genoa, envisages a driverless automatic network. Trains will consist of two three cars with capacity for 4000 passengers per-hour, per-direction. The line will offer interchanges with existing national and local rail services at Erzelli-Airport station.
