Closure of Newcastle rail stations not technically a closure of whole line, State Government lawyer says
The president of the New South Wales Farmers Association, Jock Laurie, will join protesters at a rally in Baradine today.
The protesters are calling on the State Government to inject funds to repair rail branch lines across the state.
Four rail lines have been closed in the last six months, including ones at Baradine and Coonabarabran.
Mr Laurie says at Baradine alone the closure will force an extra 200,000 tonnes of grain off rail and onto the region's roads.
