Ex-LMS ‘Black 5’ No. 44871 will be heading to York this Thursday, as it fills in for the unavailable A4 No. 60009 ‘Union of South Africa’.
Departing Norwich at 06:02, the locomotive will pass through Wymondham (06:20), Attleborough (06:31), Thetford (06:49), Brandon (06:59), March (08:10), Peterborough (08:38), Grantham (09:19), Newark North Gate (09:34), Retford (09:54), Doncaster (10:38) and York at 11:20.
The return journey will depart York at 16:36 and will pass through Doncaster (17:09), Retford (17:26), Newark North Gate (18:09), Grantham (19:39), and Peterborough Eastfield Junction – where 44871 is taken off the train.
Diesels will replace 44871 for the remainder of the journey, passing through Peterborough (21:00), March (21:23), Brandon (22:05), Thetford (22:15), Wymondham (22:42) and Norwich at 23:00.
