A WOMAN has been killed after being struck by a cane train at Mirani, west of Mackay, this morning.
It is understood the train was on its way to Farleigh when the accident occurred
Mackay Sugar have issued a statement confirming the fatality of one of its workers.
“It is with deep sadness that we advise that a fatality has occurred when a Mackay Sugar employee was working at a siding of the rail network near Mirani,” a Mackay Sugar spokesperson said.

“Emergency services personnel, police and Workplace Health and Safety representatives have attended the scene and investigations into the incident are continuing. “
