A TRAIN lobby group has ramped up its calls for Premier Daniel Andrews to publicly commit to returning Mildura’s passenger rail service following support by Victoria’s public transport union.
Mildura passenger rail services have been included in the 2019 State Budget submission by the Rail, Tram and Bus Union (RTBU), which said passenger rail would “provide this important hub better access to health and education opportunities while also opening up Mildura’s tourism and economy”.
NorthWest Rail Alliance (NWRA) president Christian Mitchell said he was pleased to see the RTBU reaffirm its support for Mildura passenger rail, after it put forward a motion calling for the return of the service at Labor’s 2017 state conference.
