It appears the Victorian Government could do with one when promoting one of its showpiece undertakings: the $440 million Murray Basin Rail Project.
On its website, Public Transport Victoria hails the project as delivering “important upgrades to Victoria’s freight rail network to meet the increasing demand for freight services”, involving “lines servicing the Murray Basin region in Victoria’s north east”.
Errrr … last time we checked the Murray Basin Rail Project involved works in the Wimmera and Mallee, you know, the regions in northwest Victoria, a good 500km drive from the North East. And who said that Victorian bureaucrats couldn’t think outside Melbourne’s tram tracks?
