Leaving Bendigo for Blackburn on the 6:08 to Melbourne was incident free and the service to Melbourne was on time and the service was well patronised by commuters.
When I arrived at Southern Cross on time, I changed for the Ringwood line on Platform 10 and got the Metro connection to Lilydale which was announced over the Southern Cross PA and was indicated on the Destination Board on Platform 10.
I boarded the Lilydale service through to Flinders Street, but by the time the Lilydale train arrived at Flinders Street and for no apparent reason the train's destination became Glen Waverly.
Having to alighted at Flinders Street to wait for the next train which was a Blackburn train and a limited express to Richmond, Glenferrie, Chatham Camberwell, Box Hill, Blackburn.
The train did not make it to Blackburn. Before the train got to Box Hill the train driver announced that the train would be terminating at Box Hill and returning to Melbourne.
All the passengers alighted who were going further with their destination to play train and platform roulette per courtesy of Metro.
All those passengers had to alight and then dash up the concourse to platform 4 and the next train on platform 4 was an express to Ringwood.
The perplexed expressions came over the commuters going onto other stations that were not being serviced by the Ringwood Express.
Finally, the Lilydale train arrived and those forwarding on beyond Box Hill joined the train.
I asked several commuters did this regularly happen with the Metro service, that the service you join for your destination rarely makes it to the destination you are intending to and they all unanimously agreed and they had given up on having a reliable and dependable service from Metro.
Box Hill station in a singular word is a BROTHEL and needs a makeover and I can understand why commuters do not like the station and its feelings of a lack of safety.
There is space between Box Hill and Laburnum for a third track and that needs to be constructed, if only the Minister for Infrastructure could find the time and finance to complete the third track.
There was a recent article in The Age where it identifies that smaller projects give the most benefit to the community, rather than the finance sucking exorbitant and political trophy syndrome and vacuous political ego massaging of Metro and Suburban Loop.
I arrived at Blackburn 30 minutes late for my meeting per courtesy of Metro, When I worked out the logistics of my trip to Blackburn, I gave myself travelling time for connections, unfortunately, I did not account for the gross lack of reliability of Metro.
What is atrocious, appalling and insulting that the Andrews Government keeps on giving tax payer funds as bonuses to Metro in recognition and rewarding Metro for underperforming and lack of reliability and sub standard service. This reveals a lack of political and Ministerial oversight of Metro.
Thankfully Metro does not run V/line, because it cannot even run Metro.
