Inland rail a trifecta for Toowoomba region: mayor
SYDNEY'S defective rail system was the NSW Government's main challenge, Premier Bob Carr said today.
Mr Carr said trains stood out because other key areas, such as education and health, were ongoing issues for every state government across the country.
"The Government's got one major challenge and that is the defective performance of Sydney trains," he said.
"All the other challenges are manageable, they're part of the routine ebb and flow of work for a state government – any state government at any time.
"The big challenge is trains, because they've consistently failed to meet public expectations."
When asked whether he has had a tough year, Mr Carr replied: "I've had tougher years, too; I've been leader for a fair bit."
